John Thoya Maitha is a Registered Mechanical Engineer with the Engineering Board of Kenya. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Production Option) from JKUAT, and he is currently Studying for a Masters of Technology Degree in Sustainable Energy Engineering at TUM, SoET He is a Teaching Assistant in the School of Engineering and Technology at TUM, domiciled in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, where he has 12 years Lecturing Experience.

 Prior to working at TUM, he has also worked at Coast Cables Ltd and Mombasa Cement Plant Ltd as a Maintenance and Projects Engineer respectively.
He also has over 10 years of research and Innovation experience gained in a number of Local and International Research and Innovation projects he
has been involved in, starting as a Research Assistant, later on graduating into a Lead Researcher. He is also a trained and Certified expert in TVET CDACC areas of
Training, Curriculum Development, Assessment and Verifier. He mostly specializes in Welding, Heavy Machinery, Refrigeration, Machine work,
production and Maintenance.

He is also a Community Development enthusiast involved in a number of community activities, mostly charitable including Youth and Gender development, PWDs mainstreaming and awareness campaigns, community clean-ups, Children protection and Empowerment programs and socio- economic development and security programs. This is done through using Sports, Arts, meetings, Conferences, camps, clinics and workshops to reach the community. He is the Founder and owner of Mugogo Engineering Consulting Services Ltd, a firm dealing with engineering consulting in areas of Design, Services, Supervision and inspection of engineering jobs.
